Billing
Shopify manages the subscription and billing cycle for Discounts Display Pro. Because of this, changing your pricing plan may result in different billing scenarios depending on when the change happens.
This article explains how billing works when you upgrade, downgrade, uninstall, or reinstall the app.
Recurring Charges
You pay a monthly subscription to Discounts Display Pro through Shopify App charges. We do not use any billing system outside of what is officially supported by Shopify.
There are a few things to keep in mind:
Discounts Display Pro offers a Free plan, so billing only begins when you upgrade to a paid plan. You will be charged after you approve the subscription charge in your Shopify admin.
Subscriptions run on their own 30-day billing cycle. While charges appear on your Shopify invoice, the billing cycle for the app may not always align exactly with your Shopify subscription cycle.
You can review your app charges at any time in:
Shopify Admin → Settings → Billing → App charges

Switching Plans
You can change your Discounts Display Pro plan at any time.
When you switch to another paid plan, Shopify will ask you to approve a new recurring subscription. Shopify only allows one active app subscription at a time, so the existing subscription is canceled and replaced by the new one.
Plan changes apply immediately in the app.
Changing Plans During a Billing Cycle
If you change plans in the middle of your current billing cycle, Shopify adjusts the charge using prorated billing based on the time remaining in the cycle.
Upgrading
When upgrading to a higher plan, Shopify calculates the prorated difference between the two plans for the remaining time in the billing cycle. This ensures that you only pay for the portion of the new plan that you use.
Downgrading to a Lower Paid Plan
When downgrading to a lower paid plan, Shopify applies a prorated credit for the unused portion of the higher plan. This credit is handled through Shopify’s billing system and may appear on your Shopify invoice depending on Shopify’s billing timing.
Downgrading to the Free Plan or Uninstalling the App
When you downgrade to the Free plan or uninstall Discounts Display Pro, the current paid subscription is canceled.
If you downgrade to the Free plan or uninstall the app during an active billing cycle, Shopify may still charge the full amount for that billing cycle according to Shopify’s billing policies.
Because billing is handled by Shopify, the exact timing of charges and invoice adjustments depends on Shopify’s billing system.
If you downgrade to the Free plan or uninstall the app during a billing cycle and believe a credit or refund should apply for the remaining time in that cycle, you can contact our support team and we will review the billing period and, when appropriate, request a refund or credit for the unused portion of the subscription.
Reinstalling the App
If you reinstall Discounts Display Pro and upgrade to a paid plan again, Shopify will create a new billing cycle for the subscription. This new billing cycle is independent of any previous billing cycles.
Billing Questions
Because all app billing is processed through Shopify, questions about invoices, payment timing, or billing cycles should be directed to Shopify Support.
If you believe a refund or credit may apply after downgrading to the Free plan or uninstalling the app, you can contact our support team and we will review the situation.
